Max was one of three black dogs born to Liberty he was about a third of the size of the other pups and was named Titch by us. He was by no way a runt he climbed over everyone to get to the milk bar and tried to push all his siblings out of the way.

He did need  extra attention from us to get his share of the milk and we felt that even though he had lots of courage and a big heart his furure was in doubt.

As the weeks went by he did however prove all our worries were wasted on him and he went from strengh to strengh. When we began weaning the pups when all the other stood around the feeding dish he found it easier to climb into the middle and avoid all the squabbling.

One by one the pups were picked by their new families every one said he was so cute and sweet but inevitably no one picked him over his brothers who were still much larger than him.

Several people contacted us but when they saw his picture compared to the litter again they decided that he was a bit small for them and would be on the small side for a grown Labrador.

When all the pups were gone Titch was left and it seemed he would be staying with us however friend from work was interested and bought his young family to see Titch may because of his personality or that on his own he did'nt seem so small he went to live with the Davies family.

We followed his progress with interest and in the summer Titch now named Max came back to us when his family had a hoilday, to say we were suprised was a understatment he had grown into a very handsome young dog not small, well boned and just at the size he should be for his age.

We have taken great pleasure in seeing Max grow and have learnt never to write off the "runt" he is not just a good looking dog but obedient and a big part of his family, we have included some photos for you to see him before and after.
